Many of you have enquired how to download the pictures that are uploaded on Flickr. It's very easy! While viewing any slideshow, click in the middle of the page. - On the top-right hand side, click on "Back to...set" - It will lead to the whole set; double click on the photo you want to save - When the picture comes up, right click on it and select 'View all sizes' - 'Large' is usually a good size to select - The next screen will allow you to save the size you desire, simply click on 'Download the ... size of this photo' - Save the file to the location you want. Also please note that from my Flickr home page, there is a link to 'Collections' that regroups: -'Events'- for all temple related festivals, interfaith events, etc. -'Darsana'- for all the best pictures of the Deities when I actually went on the altar to take the darsana shots, most of which are from our main Temple Festivals. Hope that helps. Have fun downloading your favorite snaps!
Hari Bhakti Dey has been learning Indian Classical singing since the age of five. When Hari Bhakti was 6 he preformed at the opening of Pt. Hariprasad Chourasia’s Music school. There on, Haribhakti has performed numerous concerts throughout India as a solo artist and also in company with some very prominent artists such as Hema Malini, Anup Jalota, Minu Purushotam and Anuradha Paudwal. When Anup Jalota heard him sing he said “This boy has the causeless mercy of Mother Saraswati and is a new hope for bhajan sangeet to continue”. Hari Bhakti has since taken bhajan sangeet to the world stage performing sell-out concerts in Canada and England and is currently performing in Australia. His pulsating rhythmic play and the cascades of his powerful lightning swift taans are wonderful. His deep rich and sonorous voice is quite remarkable. His virtuosity, sensitivity, light singing, alaap, slow and fast tempo, and total control of sur and taal have the captivating ability to touch the listeners hearts and soul. "One should know perfectly the Personality of Godhead Śrī Kṛṣṇa and His transcendental name, form, qualities and pastimes, as well as the temporary material creation with its temporary demigods, men and animals. When one knows these, he surpasses death and the ephemeral cosmic manifestation with it, and in the eternal kingdom of God he enjoys his eternal life of bliss and knowledge." (Sri Iso Upanisad, verse 14) By His wondrous darsana, Sri Krsna gives us a glimpse of that eternal kingdom where one at last lives a life of bliss and knowledge.

(Kadamba Kanana Swami, Mayapur, November 2011) Lecture – Caitanya-caritamrta Part 5
“Hail Thee, O Caitanya – the victor of my heart. Mark the rhythm of this mystic dance, in lofty ecstasy quite alone. Merrily sounds the tabor, and the cymbals’ notes keep time. The joyous band following him sing and dance merrily, merrily. He steps a pace or two onwards, in His dancing gait, and knows no rest. For he is intoxicated with his own over-flowing joy. O my heart’s Lord, how can I express the love I have for thee? Shah Akbar craves a drop from the sea of Thy love and piety.”
Sung by emperor Akbar. It’s pretty interesting. Akbar is quite a personality. You see that Akbar was young when his father died….he was eleven years old. There was a regent, but when he was seventeen or eighteen years old he took the throne and he conquered, but what the custom was that they would conquer these Hindu kings, and then the kings would be allowed to collect taxes on behalf of the emperor. So they were getting more money than before, because the people were afraid of the emperor, but monetarily they did a lot better. They became generals in Akbar’s army and Akbar would marry one princess from the Royal Hindu family. So all these Hindu wives, and clearly he was very devotionally inclined. This was also displayed in the museum in Agra, and I have heard that there is a painting where Akbar is doing the full dandavats to Sanatana Goswami……………………So Akbar is known for being very spiritually inclined. When the Jesuits came, he was giving them so much time that they all thought that he was going to become a Christian! He was always into spiritual discussions, and he even declared himself as the head over all the local mullahs in religious decisions!
Hare Krsna everyone. Here we are in the new year 2012 with more to offer to the Lord - what can we bring from our last year and what can we improve in our service to the Lord this year?
Today I received an email from a reader saying she always felt enthused by my posts and this inspired her to chant with more affection. I feel happy to hear that because that is the only reason for these articles, to inspire devotees to chant with more affection and develop at a certain stage pure love for Krishna.
Yesterday a devotee in the Japa Room said how the sessions helped him to improve his chanting and he could chant 16 rounds in one go - something he said he could not attain before the coming to the sessions of the Japa Room.
I feel inspired to see that, and my resolution for this year is to be a good example for other devotees to chant. For that I need to improve my own chanting and have all the love and affection I have for cooking focused on chanting.
Hoping your year started full of love and heart-felt chanting,
your servant,
Aruna devi

Question by Venkatesh P: I was reading 9th canto SB, i came across this verse. "After completing the sacrifice, Lord Rämacandra, whose lotus feet were sometimes pierced by thorns when He lived in Daëòakäraëya, placed those lotus feet in the hearts of those who always think of Him. Then He entered His own abode, the Vaikuëöha planet beyond the brahmajyoti." Else where also, I remember sometimes even in SB, i came across some verses which appeared to give importance to Brahman more. of course translation is completely changed by Srila Prabhupada to avoid confusions. How can we understand this pr, that even Sukhdev Goswami is speaking that Rama has gone into Brahman instead of referring to spiritual abode? To hear the answer, click here Summary: 1. Brahman, Paramatma and Bhagavan are non-different. 2. The technical differentiation between these three aspects of the Absolute Truth is a merciful revelation of Lord Chaitanya to enable us to understand how the Absolute Truth can be both personal and impersonal. 3. The Bhagavatam demonstrates the supremacy of Bhagavan realization by showing how its speaker Sh

So I went to see fam for Xmas Then went to falls festival for the transcendental opportunity to distribute prasadam or food with embedded loving intention The glorious team consisted of the notorious nine: yash, radha vallabha Prabhu, nandA Prabhu, Gopals Prabhu, Jason, my dumb self, Adrian the manager, ankit and Prakash. For four days we selflessly stayed up way past our bed time simply absorbed in prasadam distribution. We made friends with our neighbours who were running a crepe stall. the Grandma was very calm and nice she loved our food the young boy Zak was cool he chanted hare krsna and danced with us and cos we got ice cream u made him a ginger beer spider which made him mad for more then later when the ice cream melted I thought I’d take it to our friends the juice makers who power thier blenders by peddling bikes but the guy stew was too busy to accept it so I made a caro milk shake out of it for myself but then I realised it was the best milk shake iv ever had so I offered some to zaks mum and when she tried it she said can you make some for Zak ?! So I did and he was in total bliss. Also zaks uncle Jason who was suffering from anger upon over hearing a lecture by HH Indradyumna Swami we had playing on a speaker (deliberately loud enough for them to benefit from) inquired from Prakash about getting a copy the lecture. How fortunate he is to have an attraction to the transcendental teachings of krsna consciousness! The mother made me a lemon and sugar crepe which I accepted with gratitude but could not eat for health and scriptural reasons. She also came up later and said thankyou for all the food we gave them and expressed an interest in coming to our temple. Another high light was that we had a Kirtan chanting and dancing party outside the marque after new years and the whole family danced especially Zak who they watched and laughed joyfully out of pleasure. Then after the whole festival we had and chanting party in St Kilda which gave me alot of realisation about the mood of chanting. It is meant to be performed not in an enjoying mood but n the mood of service. Not that you can’t enjoy it actually you will enjoy it only if you do it as a selfless act of love and devotion If your an aspiring devotee you might be thinking o but selfless acts of love and devotion can’t be performed in the beginning stages of Bhakti but devotion means vow and vow means you do it wether you want to or not so if you do it with that mentality thats sadhana Bhakti or an act of selfless devotion or love in practice Mucukunda das
After leaving Cape Town, Kadamba Kanana Maharaj flew back to Johannesburg to attend the Sunday feast in Soweto, a nearby African township (25 December). He started-off with a fiery kirtana and then gave a wonderful class on the Bhagavad Gita. The next day, Maharaj headed-off to Sasolburg to a program that was organized by the local devotees, at a nature resort. The program began with sweet bhajanas and thereafter, Maharaj spoke on the mutuality of different religious approaches, especially comparing Krsna consciousness to Christianity. Still going strong, on Tuesday night, he gave a slide-show presentation of the Bangladesh tour at a house-program in Pretoria. The next morning, after giving class at the Pretoria temple, he eventually made his way to the Johannesburg international airport to catch his flight to Europe. Maharaj briefly rested in Munich, Germany. Then he was off to Simhachalam, a Nrsimhadev temple and farm community near Passau, to participate in the yearly Sankirtana festival. (Kadamba Kanana Maharaja, 29 December 2011, Munich, Germany) As long as one has a desire for recognition that means we want to be glorified and then we cannot glorify Krsna. Then we cannot chant for very long; we chant for a short time and then we are waiting to finish these rounds. But the less we are looking for recognition for ourselves, the more we can chant and the more we can glorify Krsna. That’s why in the third verse of the siksastakam, these two points are connected: one must be more humble than a blade of grass, more tolerant than a tree and one must be ready to offer all respects to others. Then one can chant the holy name constantly, kirtaniyah sada harih. So this is a great enemy in spiritual life- recognition. Somehow or other we have to break the false pride in our material attributes.
May there be good fortune throughout the universe, and may all envious persons be pacified.
May all living entities become calm by practicing bhakti-yoga, for by accepting devotional service they will think of each other's welfare. Therefore let us all engage in the service of the supreme transcendence, Lord Sri Krishna, and always remain absorbed in thought of Him.

Join this Conference: http://groups.google.com/group/sda_students Help Popularize Our Message By Liking Today's Thought on Facebook: Today's Thought: Ecstatic Rebirth in Australia uploaded from Melbourne, Australia 31 December 2011--Today in Melbourne, Australia I gave diksha, spiritual initiation, to six devotees. Spiritual initiation is the third step on the pathway to spiritual perfection. First one has faith. Then he associates with devotees. When he becomes convinced that he must fully surrender to Lord Krishna, he then accepts initiation from the bona fide spiritual master and learns from him the science of how to completely surrender to Krishna. Then he cleans the dirt out of his heart and becomes a solidly fixed devotee. After this he reaches the stage where he can relish all the activities of devotional service twenty four hours daily and becomes completely attached to Krishna. Then spiritual ecstasy awakens within his heart and he develops pure love of God. To attain this perfectional stage one must accept initiation from the bona fide spiritual master and faithfully follow his instructions. So we are very happy that these six candidates have now fully dedicated themselves to the process of spiritual awakening. I've heard that it is very difficult to go back to Godhead and that it takes many lifetimes to finally get there. My question is: If we are very serious, is it possible to go back to Godhead after this lifetime? Daniel Answer: Why Wait That Long? Why wait until after this lifetime. You can become a fully liberated soul who is able to see Krishna and reciprocate with Him constantly even during the present duration of life. In this connection Srila Prabhupada writes: Generally liberation takes place after one gives up this body, but one who lives according to the example of Prithu Maharaja is liberated even in this lifetime.--from purport to SB 4.22.51 Sankarshan Das Adhikari Transcendental Resources: Receive the Special Blessings of Krishna Now you too can render the greatest service to the suffering humanity and attract the all-auspicious blessings of Lord Sri Krishna upon yourself and your family by assisting our mission.
