H.G. Sankarshan das Adhikari, USA: Friday 2 September 2011--Life is Sublime/On the Road Again--and--Is Jesus the Only Way?A daily broadcast of the Ultimate Self Realization Course Friday 2 September 2011 The Supreme Personality of Godhead, Lord Sri Krishna, and His eternal consort, Srimati Radharani are enjoying transcendental pastimes in the topmost planet of the spiritual world, Sri Goloka Vrindavan. They are beckoning us to rejoin them. (Click on photo to see a larger image.) Our Mission: To help everyone awaken their original Krishna consciousness, which is eternal, full of knowledge and full of bliss. Such a global awakening will, in one stroke, solve all the problems of the world society bringing in a new era of unprecedented peace and prosperity for all. May that day, which the world so desperately needs, come very soon. We request you to participate in this mission by reviving your dormant Krishna consciousness and assisting us in spreading this science all over the world. Dedicated with love to ISKCON Founder-Acharya: His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, our beloved spiritual master, and to you, our dear readers. The seven weeks we just spent off the road at Bhaktivedanta Ashram in Austin, Texas were the sweetest nectar, so relishable that we could have stayed there forever. And now that we are out on another around-the-world lecture tour, this is also the sweetest nectar. The key to experiencing the ultimate happiness is that whatever you are doing, do it for Krishna. Let Him be the enjoyer of the results of your activities. Then you can engage in any occupational duty and experience it as the sweetest nectar. Sankarshan Das Adhikari Answers by Citing the Vedic Version: Question: Is Jesus the Only Way? Dear Master, My question is: Is Jesus the Christ the son of Lord Krishna? I ask this because Jesus tells us,I am the Way, the Truth and the Life. No one comes to the Father but by me. Thank you very much, Andrea von Roth Chile Answer: His Way is the Only Way Since in the Bible Jesus Christ reveals that He is the son of God, and since in the Bhagavad-gita Krishna reveals that He is God, the father of all living beings, we can conclude that Jesus Christ is the son of Lord Krishna. Although he may have used a different name for the Supreme Person in his preaching, the Supreme Person can only be one, although the names may be different. For example in Spanish a flower is called flor and in English it is called flower. But in spite of the different names, the flower is the same. Christ was the perfect embodiment of pure bhakti, pure devotional service to Lord Krishna. This is the way that he defines himself to be. So when he says that no one comes to the Father except through him, he is saying that no one comes to the Father except through the way of pure devotion. Those who separate Christ from pure devotion will derive a fanatical, divisive understanding from Christ's word's. Those who identify Christ with pure devotion will understand that he is teaching the universal bhakti path, not a fanatical divisive sect. CEOs live in a strange world where they get positive reinforcement all the time so it's very difficult for any CEO not to believe that. I was once working with the head of the US army in the New Generals School and the first thing he tells the new Generals is: "Remember, as soon as you get those stars, everyone will laugh at your jokes, but you're not that funny, and everyone will write down your comments but you're not that smart, and women will want to have sex with you but you're not that handsome. It's just your title. Don't let it go to your head". Those words are so wise. They're not saluting you, they're saluting your stars and the second you think it's all about you, its over. You've to keep listening, you've to keep learning, you've to make mistakes and you've to apologise for them. - Marshall Goldsmith • Email to a friend • • Japa Group: Giriraja Swami Japa Lecture PT.1Here is the first part of a very nice lecture by Giriraj Swami on chanting Japa • Email to a friend • • Japa Group: Nama Sankirtan Online • Email to a friend • • The Loft, Auckland, NZ: A Fish out of WaterLaugh your way to enlightenment with this classic story of the lost spirit soul. I’ve always participated in kirtan in a supportive role, but in the last six months or so, I’ve been getting asked to lead more. There’s nothing like sitting down in front of a roomful of people who are waiting for you to do something, with almost no idea what you’re planning to do. What do I sing?! It’s a time honoured question. The words are not so difficult, but there are hundreds and hundreds of melodies to choose from. Some great kirtan leaders can archive thousands in their minds, pulling them out in an effortless sequence over hours of sweet chanting. For some, like me, breaking a sweat is not uncommon. But as I jogged, I realised that even the most beautifully crafted jar can’t make the honey any sweeter. So it is with a tune. The melody is only a vessel that carries the nectarous names of the Lord, which are sweet in a way that can’t be matched by any other sound. So next time you sit down to sing, no worries. Whatever comes out, the honey will still be sweet. But if you are looking for beautiful melodies, you could try listening to some free downloads from Mantralogy.com, where five years of 24 hour kirtans are archived, along with thousands of other recordings. Happy tasting. • Email to a friend • • H.H. Sivarama SwamiI don’t want a Hindu temple. Our constitution is different. We want everyone. Krsna consciousness is for everyone. Don't take it very insignificantly. We should be very much careful. Otherwise there is falldown, and once falldown means a gap of millions of years. You have got this human form of life to complete Krsna consciousness, but if you are not serious, then again the gap will be millions of years. >>> Ref. Therefore he is steady both in success and in failure. These signs are visible when one is fully in transcendental knowledge. One should follow in the footsteps of great acaryas who are in the disciplic succession and thereby attain success. A Krsna conscious person has no desire for self-satisfaction. His criterion of success is the satisfaction of Krsna, and thus he is the perfect sannyasi, or perfect yogi. Lord Caitanya, the highest perfectional symbol of renunciation, prays in this way: na dhanam na janam na sundarim kavitam va jagad-isa kamaye mama janmani janmanisvare bhavatad bhaktir ahaituki tvayi [Cc. Antya 20.29, Siksastaka 4] "O Almighty Lord, I have no desire to accumulate wealth, nor to enjoy beautiful women. Nor do I want any number of followers. What I want only is the causeless mercy of Your devotional service in my life, birth after birth." Bg 6.1 The yoga practitioner should be determined and should patiently prosecute the practice without deviation. One should be sure of success at the end and pursue this course with great perseverance, not becoming discouraged if there is any delay in the attainment of success. Success is sure for the rigid practitioner. Regarding bhakti-yoga, Rupa Gosvami says: utsahan niscayad dhairyat tat-tat-karma-pravartanat sanga-tyagat sato vrtteh sadbhir bhaktih prasidhyati "One can execute the process of bhakti-yoga successfully with full-hearted enthusiasm, perseverance, and determination, by following the prescribed duties in the association of devotees and by engaging completely in activities of goodness." Eat awayIn a lecture given by His Holiness Bhakti Vigyna Goswami Maharaj on a topic related to mind, he mentioned to the attentive class that people nowadays eat atleast 10 times more that what is actually required. To the students in the class, he enquired why this is so? One answered that people eat more because of boredom. Another answered that people have a stronger urge these days to just keep eating for fun. And so many gave their inputs as to why people eat more than what they need to. Personally, I could recollect a stat that in U.S alone, fast food retail outlets turned over $200 billion in sales. And it’s growing every year. Once he had all the responses, he answered his question this way, “People eat more these days because they are not experiencing love. Real love. But if you look at Sanatana or Rupa Gosvami, they use to eat & drink very very little because they were full of love for the Supreme Lord. They had very little taste for anything else. All their hunger and thirst were satisfied by simply being in the service of Krishna.” • Email to a friend • • More Recent Articles |
